Lakeside Camping

Bed rolls and tent set-ups vary greatly from person to person. It of course can all depend on what activity you are going to be doing. Can you drive your gear to the campsite or are you packing it in on a weekend backpack trip? What comfort level you do want?

I remember having an old futon mattress back in the day. It was a very comfortable way of camping in the woods, but not very practical. It took two ratchet straps to fold it half for transporting. I tried out a couple of the inflatable full air mattresses a few times. Waste of money, every one them. I like to take a high quality self-inflating mattress when backpacking and a cot for drive-to- camping. The ground is very hard and rocky here in the Ozark Mountains.
