BAR K WRANGLER CAMP

This campground is a nice short drive from Springfield,Mo. It has been called Swan Creek, Bar K for short or Blue hole because of a little waterfall area on the north end of the property. I call it peace and quiet. The Swan Creek flows through here north to south with beautiful, clear water and ever changing gravel bars. There are very few campsites here that have any accommodations. Yes you will be roughing it. My favorite site here is a small walnut grove that has a picnic table, primitive fire ring and old farm house foundation, with two story rock fireplace still standing. If you are going swimming in Swan Creek, there is a spring there that seeps out of the shelf rock under the creek. the water is ice cold! A great place to cool off for those whom discover it.

Swan Creek is an 8,488 acre area that provides for year-round nonmotorized dispersed recreation use as it is a designated Semi-Primitive Nonmotorized (SPNM) Area. There are approximately 20 miles of moderately used riding, hiking, and mountain bike trails available. Swan Creek itself offers swimming, fishing, and a non-potable water supply.

Remember Bar-K Wrangler Camp is a primitive camp, with limited picnic tables and fire rings and one vault toilet. So first come, first serve. There is parking to accommodate stock trailers and towing vehicles.

Bar-K is located on the west bank of Swan Creek, serves as a Trailhead for the Swan Creek Trail and is open year round. As always 'Pack in/Pack out your garbage.
